I did my best to find the value of the drawing. I think my problem is I can't see shadow as shapes. I need to draw more simple things to get an understanding of it.

For some odd reason I like this. I love the shading in this. I like the way you pop in those highlights.

I never knew something as simple as drawing the shape and define shadow can be this hard. I understand the assignment; however, my result I find not satisfying. The first attempt I define the light and the dark. It seems as though I am all over the place with the shadowing. I am not going to lie, it was hard for my brain to articulate not smoothing the lines. I think my line are too sharpe. The Second attempt, I have completely fail the assignment. I can say I got carried away. Although I like it better, we are not suppose to smooth it. I also the proportion of the top of the pear is too skinny it needs to be a little wider. These are the critique I have for myself for my pear. I will attempt the man later.

After the feedback I tried again a feel times. So here it is and drew it as simple as possible.

I tried one of the pears digitally, which was super helpful in working out the shapes and editing it easily!

This imagine helped me a lot. I wasn't understanding because I feel digitally is a little different than drawing with a pencil. I will give this another go. This is amazing.

Some pears in graphite from the example photos, and some oranges in graphite and procreate which I set up for a still life. Drawing from life is always better than drawing from photos, I find it really challenges my observation skills more and really makes me consider form. I find shading in graphite really difficult, and I much prefer doing this kind of thing with paint. That said I really want to challenge myself with this course and use materials I don't enjoy so much. Feedback is very welcome :) Overall I enjoyed this. I'll attempt a few portraits tomorrow, and may do some more still life.
