Asked for help
4 characters I made! I have not watched the demos or critiques. Feel free to provide feedback.
- A cool whale. Originally I did not know what kind of whale I wanted to draw, but I eventually started giving it sunglasses and called it a day.
- "Tankcon" (tank + bacon). Some Fakemon that I've visualized in my head for a while. Here I attempt to combine two things, a pig and a tank. I made many drawings because I was trying to get the face to look the way I wanted it to. Results were okay i guess.
- A weasel. Just a weasel with a mean face.
- "Porygon-B". Another Fakemon! It is a hybrid between a Doduo and Porygon2. My favorite sketches so far.
This project seems like a good exercise for concept artists. Can't wait to do the next project.

These look really cool!

I find drawing from imagination really hard, I struggled to draw something without directly using the references. Most of these are studies based off reference, with a few skethes of me trying to draw from imagination. Will try again after watching the next videos.
Thank you for the feedback! I'll keep at it! Haha yeah, need to be more willing to accept the awkward learning phases.

I kept running out of space on the page, poor planning on my behalf. It was a useful exercise trying to identify the CSI curves, although I found myself struggling to find and draw S curves. Any critique welcome, thanks.

Here's my portrait, before watching the demo. It was hard to keep it simplified, the longer I looked at the reference image, the more levels of values I'd see and try to represent.
Still also struggling with the outlines of the areas of value, for instance the outline around the highlight on the nose stands out too much.
Any critiques welcome, thanks.

This is a really beautiful portrait. I love the expression. When you're choosing where to put your values, be careful of unintended effects such as the light value around the right eye, which makes the eye look like it's lifting off his face. You could simplify that area to the max by just removing that shape all together and making it a flat dark value, or you could bring that shape down in value to match more closely with the surrounding shadow values. Since we only get 5 values for this project to work with, I'm not sure how feasible the second option is but it could be interesting to try to solve that problem!

Here's my pear. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks.
I struggled with separating the planes with the values, also when doing hard edges, the lines of the edges stand out too much.
