Its kind hard tbh.
Critique is appreciated.
has anyone tips for not getting the lines too dark/thick too early?
I have the feeling my drawings are hard to read.

They are really good.
The Gesture reads well, the landmarks are identified and forms read really well.
I think you did a great job.
I was thinking which photos are you using?

Hey Ari,
first of all thanks.
I use the References from Proko. I think i got them part of a sale.
And when I get bored/used to the models I go to quickposes.com

Here is my second take on structure basics on animals.
Gesture wise I think I did a good job. At some points I felt like not adding enough structure elements/I didn't know where to add more complexity/less.

I can't figure this out. Any help is highly appreciated.

Hey, peto. In my eyes, you are doing pretty well.
Especially the bird on the first page.
Begin with Identifying the gesture then add either a box, cylinder, or sphere depending on the resemblance of the subject. And don't forget to align the forms to the gesture.

Yello, here are a few reference sketches I've been working on. Been trying to work on exaggerating some of the bends as well as less detail that muddies up the drawing. I'm a very technical guy so guidelines help me a lot, but I realize it takes away from the piece.
I think these turned out great, I think I'm getting better at limbs but could definitely work on them some more.
Critics are welcome.

The Gesture and the Volume of the first sketch is great! I think you are doing a good job with the exaggeration there. One thing I see with these sketches is a high use of cross contour lines. I think half of them would do the trick and the Image wouldn't be that cluttered. I would only use them when you want to describe the depth and alignment of the form.
All in all nice work there. 😁

Asked for help
Hello, I did some 60 second gestures today. I found it difficult to capture the entire figure in 60 seconds. Would love any feedback.

They look really good Torin.
After enough practice you should be able to identify the pose during the allotted time.
What helped me with that feeling is, trying to draw the gesture of a figure in 30s using as few lines as possible. Trying to capture the essence so to speak.
Keep up the good work.

So I have completed 20hrs of Gesture Drawing, and I'm not sure I'm any closer to understanding Gesture.
Would appreciate any constructive criticism that would put me in the right direction. (part 3)

Hello Jjldraws,
Your Gesture drawings seem to rely heavily on contour, which makes the poses quite stiff.
I would recommend you do some 30s/60s Gesture drawings. With a focus on identifying the pose with as few lines as possible, also establishing the line of action. I can recommend you the critique video of stan and marshall (which should be the last video in the gesture chapter) they go over certain beginner problems and how to address them.
All in all, keep up the good work and have fun.
