While trying to push it as far as I could at this time was helpful, I still think there are some issues from the block in stage so that's one place I'll need to focus more in the future. These later stages of the drawing are revealing of some of my shortcomings as well though; seeing more minute value differences, maintaining overall value organization, and especially drawing hair in a way that appears natural and has complimentary shapes. Still, I'm ready to move on. I'll do some more drawings and then start the painting section.

I am happy with how my drawing progressed from my last post, but I am getting to or am at the point where it's difficult for me to see how to push things forward more. I think the corrections I made to some placement/proportion issues I found after last time helped. What I'm having a hard time with I think is keeping the relationships of value correct across the drawing and, on a more technical level, applying smooth values both on the darker side and the lighter side which I think is maybe contributing to the first problem.

Hello! I realize this course is a few years old so not certain I'll get a response, but I just got The Art of Portraiture recently and thought this would be a good companion to the book. So far I feel like my drawing is progressing okay. I've just been making small adjustments at a time and trying to keep the whole in mind rather than focusing on completing one specific area to work out from. I feel like something's off maybe structurally with my drawing though. I don't want to push things too dark before I find and correct the problems, but I'm not sure how much more I can do in the light/halftone areas before they get too close to the shadow value and make the drawing muddled. Thanks!
