I heard Stan wanted an awkwardly placed sink... may I present to you, the sinkdelier!
Went with the basic idea of a classic and just threw in some objects for perspective. The small legs for the tables and chairs are harder to do at that scale but I'm rusty on perspective. I'll have fun doing the level 2 project.

The only thing "off" I see is the window. There's depth at the bottom of the window where the sill goes back into the wall, but it's flush at the top. The top should actually be recessed, as well

So, I heard you wanted interesting shapes of Seal... Some of my lighting isn't great. I'm traveling for work right now.

I did the thing...
Left some notes and plum lines in there to understand the route I took
I've really been looking forward to this course. Since this is an intro video, can we expect the first lesson this week, or will that be next Wed?

I found the assignment both fun and hard at the same time. At least hard in the sense that it's hard to break down an animal under 10 shapes without it looking like a 7 year old's drawing

With so many artists to pick from, I was hoping to have time for more before the deadline. Here's some studies I did for Glen Keane and Frank Frazetta

Finally got time to do the assignment after a work trip. I specifically tried to not spend too much time on these so I rely more on instinct than overthinking the lines.
You didn't cover my work but I can definitely see a lot of the same things you'd critique. Probably that my lines are too clean and the drawings too finished. Even when I feel I'm being loose, I'm probably aiming for too much accuracy. I'm working on that by doing some 10 min sketches and drawings over breaks as work.

Didn't have time to make it before the deadline for Stan's critique, but here's my attempt at the project. Threw together some photos of a Fennec Fox, and came up with the idea for a knight standing watch after seeing a fox with a particularly stern face. Didn't get to really utilize my idea for the long hind feet given the pose. It may be something I'll have to explore if I continue to develop the character.

Here's my three for the assignment. My sketch lines aren't nearly as noticeable as the example, but there are some in there.
P.S. I started to sign and date my exercises for the purpose of tracking progress over time

Tried to stay loose and use my shoulder without reverting back scratchy lines.

Here's my 4 drawings. I feel like I spent the most time on the boots. I personally enjoyed but spent the least time on the level 2 pictures. I feel like they turned out well overall.

Fruits before watching the Demo. And i know its wrong but i don't really get how to simplify it. The colors confuse me. Do I try to draw shapes from the color values or the light and shadow and, the bigger struggle for me, how can i separate them. I don't really see it. Sometimes I don't know if there is shadow/light or if the color of the fruit is just dark/light. But it was fun and now I'll try doing it again after watching the demo. Thanks in advance for any help!

The idea is to simplify the greyscale value of the image. If you struggle to see what colors should be lighter/darker, try editing the photo to take out the color and compare it to the original. I find that squinting my eyes or letting them relax out of focus helps me break up the values into simpler blocks.

My attempt at the portrait simplification

I haven't done this sort of exercise since High School. It comes with all sorts of nostalgic fun for me. I'll do the other pears and portrait soon. Any word on new videos releasing for the course and how often?
