Good morning this is odun from Nigeria, and I'm a beginner carricaturist I wanted to ask about the tye community thought on this, and what needs to be adjusted

Interesting piece. I believe you have posted this in the challenge thread. If so I would post this directly into your feed as you aren't likely to get any responses to the piece here as it serves a different function.

Thank you both so much for all your advice and all your help! Can someone send me a link to Marshall's upcoming course beginning next week?

Is it his Bridgman course, that is here: https://marshallart.com/SHOP/all-products/seminars-webinars/all-webinars/bridgman/bridgman-bootcamp-sept-2021/bridgman-bootcamp-1-0/

Inspired by Marshall to draw in less than 5 min. This is my procrastination fight. I hope you like it.:) Sorry for the poor quality ( lack of light )

Just when you thought a good thing couldn't get any better the ENCORE BROS arrive traveling at the speed of sound on their DUO TRUMPET THRUSTER UNI-CHARIOT.
Shooting flowers from their BLOSSOM BLASTER they make anything worth repeating even better... again.

After watching the demo I attempted my own drawing so I can compare it. I would still very much appreciate any feedback :)

That is a great idea for quick gesture drawing!

There are short and fat bottomed people, one has made the argument that they make the rocking world go round (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMnjF1O4eH0). I think this is a great drawing, and the only thing to consider as far as proportion has already been said. Keep going. Lyka till!

I think that is really interesting phenomena. I have read other art teachers talking about it as well and believe I do/did it too.

I may be paying way too much attention to the details here (and still need to practice my Loomis head drawing) but my question is whether anyone else experiences a bias in the direction/orientation of the face they draw based on the particular emphasis of the line/stroke, or shape, of circle they draw.
I believe this would only occur if one doesn’t have ANY particular direction in mind. My guess would be that if one did have a particular direction in mind one would over look such little things, or try for a circle that better “fits” the direction one’s going for.
In the top circle I felt like it was looking to the right, and the left one to the left. Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Hi guys,
I am currently practicing the Loomis Head from different perspectives (3D Modell) and have noticed that I often don't hit the oval on the head correctly. Above all, it is the width that gives me a problem. Do you have a good idea how I can better assess the width? I am currently measuring it with the pencil in relation to the height. Angle sighting is not working for me because there a not many points to start with. There is a quick example of my problem in the attachment.

Regarding what you do if you don't have access to master works. Interesting note, Franklin Booth developed his Pen+Ink style from copying the texture and studying wood engravings.

As for composition I feel like you could zoom in a little, see attached.
As for how "evil" it looks, your sky is really light. Perhaps try darkening the sky around the castle / darkening the castle and/or both and compare to see which one feels more "yikes!"
Check out the attached castle images. Interestingly the sky around some of these is (sorta) lighter in order to show the castle more in silhouette. Darkness circles the castle, which is an interesting twist to my previous comment.
The less you show the castle the scarier it will be. Leaves more to the imagination, the one that shows the castle surrounded by growth feels very inhospitable, so possibly having gnarly vegetation encroaching on the walls could give it some spooky punch.
Also, positioning the castle above your main character, instead of side to side, could make it feel more intimidating.

I think the last sketch has a more interesting combination of forms, but is very imbalanced.
Rather than drawing a background with objects in perspective, I would like to focus on the two characters faces and emphasize the swinging of the sword.
What can I do to emphasize the swinging of the sword? I don't know what the word for them is, but "whoosh lines". The action of the sword strike should take place out of frame, as I want to focus the in-between realms of demons and mortals, but that leaves a sword just hanging in space.
Or are these a bit too underdeveloped to comment on?

Yep, whoosh lines would give it some visual motion. But check out http://www.usagiyojimbo.com/ I can't find a single whoosh line. Not sure if that is helpful.
