Setting up for reference photos and trying out different lights that I had laying around with a shower curtain diffuser. Used a black blanket as a backdrop. The pictures came out surprisingly well.

Roughish life sized mouth assignment. A couple of pictures of it next to my first attempt that looked more like Shrek.

@Sujanith Tottempudi There's a "Head Model" app that's useful. Stock photo's sites are also useful. Another possibility is to try 3D scanning a model. I've used the KIRI Engine app. I think iphones have that capability now.

Large Eye: Much easier after the first assignment. What worked for the eyebrow on the small one, didn't quite work here.

Forgot to cut the pointy nose off ;). Having trouble finishing to a finer resolution. Are there other tricks (e.g. solvents, smoothing tools) or are we just pressing up against the limits of clay? Will move on to the large eye after feedback. Thanks for your earlier suggestions.

Input needed. I'm about to scoop the eye out and restart. Would you agree that the eye needs to recess ~3/4"? If true, would you restart the eye OR build up the nose and brow?

I know there is a lot that need to be improved, but I’m happy with my first skull. Love some feedback please 😊

Have to put my tools down sometime. I decided not to refine the neck and use my time to do another one, but at half size. There's a mix of green and grey clay (it's not moldy). I carve stone, but need to learn how to carve portraits for my next projects. SketchFab 3D model: https://skfb.ly/oOOQN

my submission for part one. Twice as large as I planned. Ate up a lot of time and clay ;) . Anterior skull asymmetry to be addressed in part 2.

The head looks great. It would be more helpful from the student perspective if it were front-lit to some degree to reveal more of the detail. It looks like you've already put some effort into how to light and display. I'd be interested in learning more about what you've tried and liked.
