Before and after watching the demo videos. I felt like I still struggled somewhat with the shadows and light approach even after watching the demo.

Good start! The simplification choices are all there. When it comes to line quality, there's less focus on the line coming out perfectly clean as a single stroke, but rather that you are able to attempt the line with confidence. This means that you have a looser sketching hand and the possibility of redrawing a line right on top if your first attempt was off the mark. It helps to think of the entirety of the CSI stroke instead of narrowing in on the small details at your pencil tip. The next lesson covers this more extensively, but incorporating some of these habits now can be useful in communicating the CSI lines clearly.

Attempt #1 on the left before watching demo. Attempt #2 on the right after watching demo. First thing I notice during this process is I have zero control over my hand/fingers after they get tired. I believe hand fatigue and not taking my time is the result of the horrible shading.
Well, I totally get why some artists hate their work. But it was a first step....
This was about an hours work. Hoping that is a reasonable time frame to complete it.
