14-day challenge day 2: second attempt at gesture drawing from the Figure Drawing Course. Lots to learn!

My portrait attempt, post-demo -- 10-min sketch + 60-min drawing. Would love feedback!

Pear #1 pre-demo (wooded 2H-6B, one too many -- woops), pear #3 post-demo (woodless HB-6B -- fun). Had difficulty keeping values from bleeding into each other in the first attempt. Didn't totally solve it in the 2nd attempt after the demo but at least I knew what to look for.

I’m 41 years old and the last time I did any kind of dedicated drawing was in 1992 or so - will be interesting to see what’s still in the vault after 30 years! Here’s my pear, was fun to make something again. 2B mechanical + blending stick.
