Ok, I'll do my best. Looking at all your drawings it isn't obvious to me that your starting with blocky shapes in what your drawing before you start putting in detail. I can see in some drawings your starting with basic shapes and then working inside of them but that's not quite the same thing as working inside 3 dimensional shapes. Phil Dimitriadis has put a lot of videos up on youtube it would help you to look at. Also I would recommend you consider getting Marshalls 1894 perspective drawing class video's from his website(best purchase I ever made) that will help you start thinking in 3D when your drawing. Keep at it your drawings already look really good.

So I gave the buckets a try. I did some, then figured a whole page taking a closer look at it would help and I feel doing it repeatedly made me understand better what exactly it represented. Working on more. Done in 5H and HB Graphite. Will find a better way to get picture quality.

A lot of animators start off with some simple exercises like doing a page of circles and ellipses freehand as part of their break in process to loosen up before they start work. This kind of thing could help a lot for you getting your wrist drawing shapes like this easily without thinking. Marshall in his 1894 perspective drawing classes he has on his website(best purchase I ever made) always built shapes like this inside some perspective lines. Worth a look.

Next drawing done. Not the most exciting but had to get through it. Next one is gonna be a steampunkish ruined lighthouse. Dont feel im ready for use of colour yet so gonna stick with greyscale. Can always go in with photoshop later with greyscale. As always critiques very much appreciated.

Hey Luke, these are awesome! What's the plan for these? Are you wanting to take these into a personal project, or are you putting together a concept art portfolio? The reason I ask is maybe I could give some better crits if there's more context to what your goals are.

Did a bit of world building and came up with a steampunkish idea that Im doing a series of scenes to put together a portfolio. After I get through it I wanted to use it to market myself to the online dungeons and dragons and other roleplaying fantasy/psi ti type community. But I'm not really happy with the colours so far. I want to move more towards something like the borderlands video game franchise look.
