First pear was before the demo, second one is after watching the demo and taking some notes. I haven't watched the demo for the portrait yet, but I already noticed that my proportions are off. Overall it was really challenging but I enjoyed the process and learned a lot :). Any feedback is appreciated.

Both pears are quite good. I think the one with the hand written notes is before the demo correct? I prefer that one 🙂. Forgive me if I am incorrect about which one is before. Both pears are very good.

Hi everyone! I finally got time to get started in the course. I was waiting a bit so when I start I can be constant. I know it's late but I want to share what I do as a non experience beginner and hopefully see some progress with time.. Here the pear 1 before watching the demo. When I put them side by side I can already see soooo many mistakes..

No mistakes! Just a different interpretation! Your rendition is wonderful. Will it get better? Sure! But there are no “mistakes”, just “deviations”.

My first pear attempt vs. following along with Stan’s demo - I feel like I’ve learned a lot, I definitely didn’t simplify enough at the beginning. Looking forward to watching the pear critique video and attempting the remaining pears :)

I had similar results in my before and after pear. After watching the demo I was able to get a better sense of what to do. Going to give it a third try tomorrow maybe with a fruit of my own 🙂. Then I am going to try the face

First try before seeing demo, and another try after demo. Not feeling very confident. The awful critic in my head won’t shut up.

I've been drawing on and off since i was a kid, always self-teaching and just flying by the seat of my pants, and never really got any proper instruction, which really bogged down my passion for art by not being able to execute on ideas, or at least not without spending a ridiculous amount of time on it self-correcting mistakes i just don't seem to know how not to make in the first place. I'm 26 now, and feel like I've built a lot of bad habits by never really practicing basic fundamentals, so I'm starting from scratch with this course. Going through my supplies, I picked a cheap A3 sketchbook and I'll probably stick with the Arteza Graphite Pencils, because my fancier stuff doesn't work well on the cheaper paper, and I don't want to be precious about supplies when I'm supposed to just be learning. Starting the pear assignment tomorrow, wish me luck!

I am 63, and have the same story as you do. I just retired from my job and finally now have the time to pursue art. Don’t do what I did - get down to it now, don’t wait any longer 🙂. Can’t wait to see the pictures you will post!
