Used a photo I took at the Vancouver Aquarium last year. I will be working on this a lot.

Had a rough time, but this was fun. Might try again after seeing the demo.
When watching the demo, you will see the instructor mess up the laces on the boot to the viewer’s left. He states it and keeps going. It made me feel like I could give myself a little grace. I think you did a good job on these.
The boot and snail look really good. In the demo, the instructor states not to worry about proportions too much. He also gave the tip to draw big container shapes to help with placement and proportion. I think you did a very good job on these.

I did drawings and then watched the demo. I think I put in too much detail. Ooops. Simplify is the idea Petra! ARGH!! I learned a lot though and that is what counts. I don’t think I will redo these but may follow the suggestion to find other objects to practice simplifying to C S L.

I didn’t realize how much I dislike Mario Bros until I was drawing these. I kept hearing that awful fake and somewhat offensive Italian accent! UGH! (I know a me problem, but what can I say?). So I ended up adding in just ellipses between the yucky Mario mushrooms. I need a loaf of work on these I think. I will also have to find something other than these Mario mushrooms because I got annoyed doing them. Maybe some other stylized mushrooms to keep the concept of intentional shapes.
This is my third attempt, using the pear 3 image in the downloads. I learned a lot watching the critique videos for both the pear and the portrait. Squinting helps a lot! But it also gave me a headache….i wonder if I could get the same effect as squinting by throwing an image in procreate and using Gaussian blur.

This is my first attempt. Does anyone have tips on breaking up an image into straight lines? I've never properly learned how to draw or shade and find myself breaking things up into all curves.
