Good start! I think you can continue to further simplify some of the more complex areas into simple shapes -- think basic ovals, rectangles, triangles, etc... Starting with these as the 'building blocks' helps make proportions more manageable later on as it sets the foundation to launch off of.

Proportions were difficult to get, as the drawing of small lines with tapered strokes, but I found it quite rewarding.
Alright. I am watching the demo. Will need to do it again and to loosen up and simplify. So difficult to have this mindset ! :-)

My work before the demo. The boots were so much more difficult. Especially the lace which got me so frustrated. I feel that my line are more confident for the snail.
