hello Stephen, my question is would it be bad to dive into color or a painting class before fully grasping shading with pencil?

I’m sort of new to art, I’ve been drawing for 10 months but I have a decent grasp on anatomy. I want to learn more about it and branch out into other fundamentals. I’m about to be a senior in highschool and I’m scramming to figure out where I want to go for college. I feel a bit lost because I want to take in person classes since I personally feel much more comfortable learning with someone to guide me but a lot of colleges look to be only doing online courses like Watts Atelier. I’m planning to visit a bunch of art schools within California, but during the summer should I just try a online course from watts atelier or from another place and see if I like it?
