Just finished the gesture course so I've got gesture on the brain rn. At some point I stopped looking at the references tho since drawing gestural patterns with the shadows was kinda fun 💀

Ooh! That's a cool background! Also great shape simplification.

Although it was a bit intimidating, the assignment turned out to be quite fun! Still just a bit unsure about whether to draw the curve for the lumbar even when there's a very clear single rhythm for a hunched back tho.

Here's an attempt. First time dealing in proportions but this assignment makes it quite digestible!
I did have some questions, though, especially concerning the differences between male and female. Are there supposed to be any major proportional differences other than the carrying angle and the pelvis angle? I have heard that female hips were supposed to be wider and I wasn't sure how that should be expressed so I tried exaggerating the male pelvis' inward taper (is that the correct move?).
Also since the torso is taller from the back due to the scapula, does that affect the shape of the ribcage from the back as well? Or should the ribcage have the same shape from the front and from the back?
It seemed like the main theme of this section was the balances formed between parts of the body, but since the male pelvis has such a neutral angle, does that mean that male figures tend to have less inherent balance/contrast/dynamism from a side view?
