Bit late on this one. On A3 paper, with mostly a 6B pencil, since I was a little scared it wouldn't be dark enough otherwise. Still had to darken it a bit after tho. I didn't time any of them, but I'm guessing they all took between 5-10 minutes.

some more that I did digitally after watching the demos and critiques. I tried focusing solely on connections and flow. It's been a while since I've drawn anything digitally so it felt like my lines were pretty bad, but maybe the flow and proportions are better? I think also probably spent at least 10 minutes each on these since I was searching a lot for connections.

Thanks for the encouragement! I’m not sure how I missed this the 17+ times I watched the explanation of gesture but when you spoke about finding the connections in the body in the critique video that really clicked for me. I’m going to keep practicing!

Yeah it really clicked for me as well. Before I didn't really know what to look for, just this idea of "don't just draw the contour, find the gesture", but I think having flow explained like this is gonna be a big help going forward.

Drawing seals was pretty fun :) The first page is from a couple days ago, next two from today, and the last page with the numbers is from imagination/memory. Tried doing it with coloured pencil as well and felt pretty good, but I'm not sure if I felt a noticeable difference. I felt like it made a big difference to draw on good quality A3 paper though, both because of the feel of the paper and being able to use my arm more with the bigger size.

This was harder than I expected honestly. I'm not sure if I rushed it, I definitely did on some of them. I would look at the animal for about a minute or two to find the shapes, draw the biggest one and so on, but when I look at them they still feel rushed? I haven't drawn animals before so I guess I shouldn't have big expectations, but I did expect to do better. all the photos are from pexels.com

Some 30 second drawings from today. I've done a lot of gesture drawing over the past 6 months, mostly digitally but also some in person figure drawing sessions. I feel I'm still struggling a lot. I think I struggle with picking the important parts of a pose in such a short amount of time, so I end up just focusing on the same things regardless of the pose. I think I struggle with showing tilt and lean with so few lines, this is probably also exacerbated by the previous problem, I can't find the important part of the pose that will show the tilt or lean. I might also still be focusing too much on contour. I've tried sometimes to just not focus my eyes and look more at the whole of the pose, or focus on the center/inside of the body, and sometimes it might be helping? It's hard to tell. Do you think I'm focusing too much on contour on these?

I've done a handful more pages than this, but I wasn't writing down which pose I was using, so I decided to do some more, and write down the numbers for the pictures. Done digitally.

For the first one I just copied it directly into clip studio paint, forgetting that I might have to lighten the lines on the inside, so I just used the soft eraser to lower the opacity on most of it, but I think it got a little messy and lazy. For the second one I just used copied it into pureref, so all the lines in that are "my own"

Posted in the order that I did them. I did the boots twice and the camel twice. As for the boots, I felt I took too long the first time, got a little bored of it and ended up being sloppy with the shoelaces. So I redid it a day or two later, deciding not to do the shoelaces at all, and trying to focus on simplifying a lot more, and plane changes especially, as well as just spending less time on it and erasing less. I think it ended up worse though. From here on I spent a lot less time on the rest of them, and erased less in general, which was probably a good thing. As for the camel, my starting point was way too far down the page, and so I messed up the proportions really bad. I knew I could do better and did it again right after, and I think the proportions ended up a lot better. When I started drawing, I started with drawabox, which means I've drawn a lot in ink, and used ghosting and thought out lines a lot. Chicken scratching isn't something I'd say I struggle with. However, when I went over some of my lines again to add more lineweight to them, I feel like I worsened the line quality a lot, and it could even look like I did some chicken scratching here and there. In general my line weight/quality doesn't feel very consistent to me, hopefully that's something I just get better at the more I get used to pencil.

I remember stan saying there was gonna be a project "in addition" to the daily drawing, so probably not. Nice snail!

All 3 pears and the level 2 portrait posted in the order that I did them. Pear 2 done in Clip Studio Paint with the default G-pen and pencil brush, everything else done with a 2B graphite pencil, sharpened with the forbidden pencil sharpener.

With a graphite 2B pencil. While I'm not a complete beginner, I haven't used pencil all that much, I usually use either digital or ink pens, and I've never really shaded. The first thing I'd say I shaded was a box about a week or two ago. I don't wanna poison the well by giving my own critiques of it, but I'd maybe like some advice on keeping a consistent tone/value. That was something I was struggling with, especially for the light values. I'll be doing the portrait as well some time soon hopefully :)
