Great critique video! Proportions sound like they will be fun but challenging!

What is your guys drawing setup like ? Im sat at my desk with my computer screen in front of me and my drawing paper flat on my desk also in front of me. Does anyone else have this setup where you look up at your screen and than down at your paper? Im wondering if this makes getting proportions right harder since your kinda looking at your paper from an angle. Does anyone have your paper like this woman has in her video ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Znr1OY-aHhM&list=PL3aPoNPQSJnSJVw2_GUVR7jC0nbnksq6F&index=5 Where you are just looking straight at it.

I purchased this (https://www.michaels.com/product/artists-loft-all-media-flat-surface-easel-10669874) easel from Michaels and have it on my desk to draw at a roughly 45 degree angle. Having the drawing paper flat on a desk was messing with my posture because I kept hunching over and causing some back pain. My desk is big enough that I set the easel in front of my monitor and just look over it at the screen when I need to.

These were a ton of fun to sketch out! Although the more I do in my sketchbook, the more I realize how much I need to be aware of my proportions due to the limited space I have.

Hi everyone! I found the boots challenging. It was a great challenge though. I had trouble simplifying the shoelaces; I felt like I was literally getting tangled up in them as I sketched this! That was my queue that it was time to stop! When I stepped back and took a good look - I immediately noticed proportions were off; I drew the boots much wider than the photo. I also find my lines can be 'scratchy' at times, and not as confident/solid as I'd like them. I'm sure that will come with more practice. Btw, love the photo choice! Looking forward to seeing the critique video for this one! Would love to know how to approach this one, and more than anything...simplify sketching shoelaces :)

I had a similar experience doing the boots as well. Your simplification looks great though!

The boots broke my brain a little haha. Could not really get proportions right on it. Definitely going to redo the boots at least two more times for practice.

Exercises like this remind me of why I want to learn to draw in the first place; to draw cool things! I rushed this page a bit butwill definitely be playing around with proportions more.

Finally had time to attempt the first pear. Think I need to do more shading squares exercises as I don't feel my shading is very consistent for each tone. But that is just a part of learning after all.

First sketch to start the class! I've tried doing free online tutorials before but always gave up partway through due to not being disciplined enough and there being no consequences for not following through. So I've purchased the premium course as a way to force myself to see it through and not waste money. I'm very excited to see how the course unfolds!
