Enjoyed this, and things turned out better than I'd expected...Definitly hard not to want to go back and erase, and to keep things loose, but overall quite happy. I also kinda like the sketchy look...

Nice, these look great! A few quick notes, the pinky of the Spidey Hand is really small compared to the rest of the fingers you could bump up the chonk there a bit so it fits the rest of the fingers. But you did a nice job mapping out your space and building it out of the envelope construction lines. Also the front leg of the VR Girl is a little thick compared to the other limbs (it is in the reference as well, but it feels a bit exaggerated in your sketch.) Great sketches, keep it up!

This is my attempt to simplify the pears and the portrait. Did this a few days ago but wasn't sure whether to share or not and get feedback but sharing now anyway. I'm taking the free version of this course so I can't really watch the demos or the critiques so any critique and feedback here is appreciated. I know the portrait doesn't look so good but I don't know how I can improve or fix it, and if the pears also need some improvement then you can tell me how to improve them too. I'm not exactly a beginner I've been drawing for years now since I was little but I took this course to sort of improve my skills and learn things. Also, side note on some pages I wrote the name of the lesson so I could remember what lesson or practice it was. I've done already some lessons, even in the shape section but I take the time now to share everything in one go. Some of the pages will look messy so I hope the subject of the practice and what I tried to do are clear enough.
I'm glad you posted. :) I think you'd benefit from working a little larger and re-focussing on using only straight lines and really simplifying the form a little more. At the moment it's a good start, but very curvy lines, so working a bit bigger might force you to refocus on the straights and proportion. Maybe spend as long on the one pear as you did on this whole page (even though it can be a bit boring), working from big overall shape, to smaller, simplified shadow shape. Treat it as just light and dark, 2 values at this stage, trying to get a smooth even tone. Then go into the dark shape and add the very dark shapes, then the same with the light. Hopefully that's helpful! Still very much learning myself! :)

Don't think I managed to separate the values as well as I could have within the lights, and for this ref I really couldn't see the core shadow very well, but that may have been the device I was using... Anyway, any and all critique most welcome!

You have such lovely values and controlled rendering, awesome job! The thing I would suggest as you continue is to simplify the shapes a bit further. For example, the core shadow edge in this case leans more complex and could be reduced to fewer detail. A tip that can help is to look at your reference by squinting or having it blurred, to remove any distracting detail and focus more clearly on the general mass of the shapes. Hope this helps!
