Here goes. I might try to do it again if I have time. Or better yet another one. Would love to hear some feedback. I feel I could not develop 3 light tones.

Here’s the sphere. Deciding the values relative darkness to each other continues to be a challenge. I feel the halftones came out darker than they should be.

I agree with you about the halftones, specifically around the highlight. It feels like there's not enough of a transition. You could take a kneaded eraser and dab off some pigment pretty easily.

Great start! Already tons of dimensionality to the image, as well as nice simplification of shapes. Try starting your lightest greys even lighter, so the values are more evenly spaced rather than gravitating towards the dark end of the spectrum. Focusing on this also helps develop your control of the pencil as you focus on lighter pressure when rendering.
