Two more attempts at level 2. I think the thing that’s been the most difficult for me so far is that I’m using reference to see where to place facial features, but my boxes are out of proportion. And so I have to place features relative to what I had constructed, rather than the actual position on the ref, or else things would look wonky like my previous attempt. (also doesn’t help that I rarely draw faces haha) I guess the solution to this is just to make sure things are proportioned correctly early on before committing to details. Which is a problem I’ve been having for the longest time 😅 I’ll watch demos and critiques next.

I followed along Stan’s demo for 7 and then gave 13 a shot before watching his demo. Feels like it went better this time around? Also I know it's a little ahead, but I've been finding the X trick really useful for checking proportions (at least when I draw a box around the head). My first pass at the front plane is usually too wide and so the box's center line doesn't end up matching the ref.

Went back to do level 1 for some reps on the box 👀

First shot at level 2 which took a bit of time. This was fun! Looking at this again the lower jaw isn't centered 🤔 I'll give this a few more shots

The construction of his head looks cool. The upper lip and nose projected out the way you’ve done here looks very three dimensional. Aside from the center line that you mentioned, it looks to me like we might see a bit more of the top plane of his head, maybe something like this, since he is tilting down so much. Looking forward to seeing more of your sketches!

I ended up drawing random objects since my mind was drawing a blank otherwise... I eyed the perspective lines.

I watched the critiques and gave proportions a quick shot. I definitely need more practice, the cabinet’s very wide 🤔

I really like the clean flowy lines in the last couple of pages!

Some poses from a life drawing session yesterday. I found it trickier to find rhythms from these poses. Line quality continues to be elusive… I drew on a clipboard without erasing, and kept committing to lines way too early. Will make a note of this for next session 🤔

Did level 1. I’ve done some life drawing, but I never really considered looking at rhythms across the entire body and my proportions were always pretty loose, so I tried focusing on those. I'll also need to focus on line quality next session...

These are super cool. I like how you connected lines across the figure. These seem to get more free as they go on, the last one is my favorite. The line running up from his leg to the neck is a really good idea.

Attempts after watching the demos and critiques. My head hurts from trying to internalize everything, my line quality definitely could be better, and I feel like I went the other way of adding too many unnecessary details this time. I'll give this more tries 👀

Another shot at some of these
@doodleibu
I've been feeling that my drawings have been stiff lately, so I tried to be looser. Will watch the demos next!

Third attempt. I laid things in pencil so I could erase, and later went over it with conte for visibility (I forgot to outline the eye sockets though). I also stepped back from time to time to see if something felt wrong. I'm happier with this compared to my previous attempts, though I still have an issue with not tilting the eyes enough and it's pretty clear now that I'm looking at it again. I eyed the hands and it shows. (photo from Getty Images/ATP Tour)
