It looks so good! May I ask, how long did you practice with ink to draw like that?

I attempted a portrait of Bilbo. I struggle so much getting likenes when I use the pencil. I hope it means that I grow artistically 😅

I updated the shading. I still struggle to see values working with graphite. It’s so much easier to me digitally. But I’m willing to practice and learn.

I drew a Balrog today. I love the design of the horns! Also, it looks like the Balrog is sneezing on that picture 😅 A-ACHOO!!

What are three things you've learned so far during this two week challenge?
1yr
For the challenge, I forced myself to draw with a pencil rather than digitally. I noticed that I need a bigger surface to draw on to feel comfortable with the traditional tools 🤷♀️

Day 8 (from yesterday 😄) After I started Marshall’s Bridgman course on Yt I searched for block figures and drew some. The first 3 are from a ModernDayJames vid.

I like your study of Cambiaso! I remember that figure from the book Drawing Lessons from the Great Masters that was, unsurprisingly enough, also recommended by Marshall in one of the episodes of the Draftsmen podcast. I really enjoyed the book.

Here's my camel simplification attempt. I found the lines in this picture to be more flowy than in the one of Captain Skull. There are so much more natural rhythms that I noticed.

Day 8. Today I drew this piece of driftwood, it was pretty complex! Sometimes I feel like it's moving on it's own. Must be my imagination, heh heh. In other news this comment section is now over 1000 comments, wow! Keep on drawing buddies!

The three-dimensional form of the driftwood is conveyed so well! The cavities look so elegant! And I like how you implied the shadows with the line weight. I think I learned something from simply looking at this drawing 😍

Here's my simplification of Captain Skull. I made some constructional lines first to help myself with the proportions.

"If you want him, come and claim him!" — Today I drew Arven confronting the Nazgûls.

Day 5. Drawing done from the children's book "The Bear Dance."

Day 6. I'm still feeling out the 2mm mechanical pencil I'm using but I must say, I'm definitely glad I switched to it. So much easier when sketching outlines and whatnot.
I did get lazy when it came to the details on the flaps and around the shell lol. I'm kinda happy with this one

I drew Gollum today. I continue challenging myself and use pencil instead of the iPad. It's hard to take a good picture of a pencil drawing too. It seems that I need much more advanced setup than just a phone and a table lamp!
