I think it’s just the placement of the eyes. They are too close to the ear.

I liked the "Lion and Turtoise" by Eugene Delacroix that was part of the critique and i tried it as well. Very beautiful and challenging.

Hi, I found this drawing "Study for Mucius Scaevola Before Porsenna by Charles Le Brun" on website https://finearttutorials.com/guide/famous-drawings/ The light appears from top left on the upper body. But why is the right side of the torso in the shadow? there is no obstacle.
I combined lines with different thicknesses and values, as in the demo.

Second rhino has light from the leftside of the body, so i let the lines that fall in the light with less weight.
