My first attempt at the proportion exercise. I did the overlay and noticed that the features were not aligning with the tilt of the person's head. I'll definitely use more horizontal lines for measuring.

This was a really fun assignment! I did master studies of two artists:
Jahnoy Lindsey and Mingchen Shen
I like Jahnoy's line art because it's very sketchy and I see a hierarchy of importance when it comes to his lines. The contours of the characters are heavy compared to the "light and scratchy" lines within the contours.
Mingchen's lines are very loose. The reference attached is more of a sketch, but I wanted to study the line variation of these characters.

Here are my level 1 line weight projects. For the Hierarchy of importance method, I wanted the head and horns to be the focal point so I used heavier lines. Then, used lighter lines for the rest of the body.
For the light and shadow method, I used lighter lines for the areas that were in the light and darker lines for the areas in shadow.

Hi everyone, this is another attempt at the imagination sketches. I studied tigers this time. I took the time to do some exploration and came up with a boxer tiger character. Also, I make sure to keep my lines loose.

I've had some fascination with owls and wanted to draw them for my level 2 project. The studies were fun. I had some trouble creating a character using my imagination. I ended up drawing a baby owl ready to take flight.

This is my second attempt at the project. I used my own shoes as a reference. The tips from the demo really helped especially the one about drawing a container shape first.

This is my first attempt at the level 1 images before watching the demos. I was having a lot of difficulty with the laces of the shoes, so the lines are a little less confident compared to the rest of my drawing. The snail was a little simpler, but I noticed that I need to be more mindful of the quality of my lines.

My second attempt at a portrait after watching Stan's demo video. The video helped me be mindful of the proportions and how to apply my lights and shadows. I used graphite for this portrait.

This is my first attempt at simplifying a portrait. I used a reference I found on Pinterest. I struggled with the proportions, so I'll be mindful of that during my second attempt.

This was a fun warm-up exercise! I still have to remind myself to darken the spots that will show up on my drawings. Will make the effort to do this every day to improve my ellipses.

This is my attempt at the pear. I used graphite pencils for the assignment. Couldn't find my pencil sharpener, but will do a second attempt at this assignment once I have one.
