Here my assignment for all 3 pearls and the portrait drawing. I have some knowledge in drawing, and decided I should come back to these assignment to improve some of my fundamentals, as I don't feel confident in my art work when trying to draw from imagination. Let me know how you think and where I can improve. I think I might have not simplify the 5 values enough in the level 2 drawing, I think I was focusing on seeing every little subtitle grey scale value on the drawing.

I think I got the movement of the gesture correct, but it was pretty hard to make them not look like stick figure with the lines I used that didn't show much form or shapes in the gesture drawing. Even when the time was increase to 2 and 5 minutes I noticed I still struggle to get the gesture not in a stick figure.

Hi @Basil Tong, nice start! Yeah, figure drawing is a difficult topic, and it's not strange that they look like stick figures in the beginning. I'll give some feedback on these, but I'll highly recommend that you take the Drawing Basics course as well. It will give you many tools and a strong foundation that will help you in your figure drawing (and any drawing for that matter). - I think you did a pretty good job simplifying and finding the major flow, in all of these. The ones that I think are most succesful are the 2nd drawing, from the left, in the top row, and the 1st drawing, from the left in the second row (the figure that lies down). They have the most realistic proportions. That combined with the good flow makes them resemble real figures quite well. You might benefit from familiarizing yourself with the Human Proportions – Average Figure. Keep them in the back of your mind when you do your gesture drawings. Be especially aware of the symmetry of the body; making sure that both arms ar the same length for example. The right upper arm will be the same length as the left upper arm etc. (But, be aware that they can appear to be of different length, if one arm is foreshortened (aimed away from us for example) and the other is seen in its full length). - Keep an extra eye on the shape of the head. You tend to make it a bit tall, like a sunflower seed. Think of it more as an upside down egg. Make sure you add enough room in the back for the brain. Hope this helps :) Keep up the good work!

I had so much difficulty with this one. I feel I lack a huge understanding in how basic shape are form and place together. I tend to copy from fan art a lot so trying to get out of the habit from copy to thinking about how shape rotate and are from in space will be quite the struggle but I hope, by the end of it all I can get to a level where I can be more confident in creating original character. Any feedback are appreiciated.

I tried my best, but this is hard stuff.
