not bad for a first time, if that was what you were implying. dont be intimidated. hands are fun when you realize they arent as hard as you think they are :)

attempt 1. my main issue i think is i have a very particular style, and have learned various methods of drawing, so drawing purely from observation is difficult when you already have muscle memory that's more stylized. so you can see especially with the VR girl and a bit with the hand, my unconscious habit of neglecting details, grouping things together (namely fingers), and building proportions from memory and not the reference itself some examples of quick sketches of my natural art style are included to show what i mean. i dont draw from observation much, so for all the skill i might have in one aspect, that knowledge is messing me up on another. lol

before and after demo. Proportionally it might be better as i saw how he broke down the shapes. im still having a skill issue with my lines, but i think they're improving a little for the very first image the left boot is bad on purpose, i did an experiment between sketching my natural way, and then for the right one trying to be loose and not let my hand rest on the paper. drawing smaller lines and details is more difficult than long lines

i decided when trying this for the first time id do a little experiment. first time, try it with my natural way of sketching. then for the right boot, try to have long strokes and keep my hand from rest on the paper. i know the proportions are off and the lines are not very good on either, seeing as i think i struggle the most with small or precise lines. but there really is a noticeable difference. im trying to establish good line control before i worry too terribly about proportions. i think this is the start to a cure for my chaotic line art that frustrates me the most :)

im a digital artist with almost no understanding of fundamentals of art. considering how long ive been drawing despite lacking like all skill in traditional art, i thought, "what could possibly go wrong?" behold. my actual lack of skill when not making easy art on the computer tried it a few times as i figure out what i was doing wrong. but also proof that people who can make cool pretty stuff with a computer can have a completely different "skill level" when you give them a paper and pencil. to be fair to myself i do as of right now only have a crappy lead pencil. and i have practically NEVER done this before my main issue is my lines. i cant seem to figure out how to change my erratic and too dark line work, even if it shouldnt be that hard. i tried a few times since i know what to do, but habit is hard to break time to do this several more times with many different objects
