These look almost painfully "off" to me, but I can't pinpoint exactly what's wrong--this assignment has revealed just how limited my understanding of light really is! As you can see, I completely lack any understanding of where to place the cast shadow. I know that lines can be drawn from the light source and through the endpoints of the terminator to project one axis of the cast shadow, but I don't see how those lines alone give you enough information to place the cast shadow--how do you its angle and degree and center point (if those are even the right terms)? Am I missing something obvious here?

the cast shadow technically is where the light will be incident at an 90 degree angle to the surface when it is smooth i would suggest you to learn how to draw cross contours and and understanding form before shading as it will make the process to learn shading smoother

Here's my homework assignment for this section of the course! The first 4 are from Stan's demos and the last 4 are my solo attempts. I need to go back and do more poses from the back because I'm not sure if I correctly identified the scapula in my solo attempt. I also struggled with the complexity of the knees so if anyone has any tips, I'm all ears! Any feedback is greatly appreciated and good luck to all other artists working their way through this course! :)

a small advice from me is to be mindful of the proportions of the hands of the female drawings as proportions make or break the drawing more so than anatomy

Hi, I thought I kinda get it, but then 11:24 happened and crushed my confidence. How the hell this line is going this direction? It looks like going outside of the body. I mean, I can see that her belly is kinda sucked in, but it doesn't make sense in context of two tennis balls in the sock. Can somebody explain that? :( I am so lost now.

the bean isn't completely anatomical and the line going outside doesn't actually mean something but just to indicate flow and 3d form

Can someone help me with the twists? In the twist section, sometimes the bean takes an "S" shape where there are opposing overlaps in both sides, this one makes sense to me, but sometimes if you were to look at the silhoutte it looks like a tilting bean (with one long "C" curve at one side), but the vertical contour line bends like an S. It's not so much that I don't understand the bean itself, but when looking at the body I have no idea which twisting motion I should draw. The way I'm doing the excerises is that I'm doing the bean myself, and then see how Proko does that same pose and at this point I'm just guessing. Sometimes I do it like he does but honestly it feels like I was just guessing, For now, my theory is that if both spheres are twisting in the same direction but one less intense than the other then use the tilting silhouette and denote the twist with the vertical contour line, and if they are twisting in opposite directions then use the full S-shaped bean. Can someone confirm or correct my hypothesis? Thanks!

this may seem like a weird advice but try to draw twisted flat objects or just draw twisted leaves and how they work, it will help you visualize better

here is a suggestion which worked for me , first follow the lecture of how to draw structure in 3d before the gesture one that may be helpful
