I’ve been sent to the head drawing prison until my heads improve, any tips and/or feedback that can help me escape or reduce my sentence are greatly appreciated! I’ve gone with the quick sketch method again to get the training quantity up, these were about 10 minutes each. This was the second batch so so far I’ve drawn about 20 heads this way.

I’ve been doing these slightly longer but loose sketches recently and it’s been the most fun I’ve had figure drawing. Feedback of course welcome!

I came across a reference I really liked while quick sketching so I had to draw it again!

Not an expert but i think drawing the figure as a robobean helps a lot with figuring out the twist! Here is how i did this pose in particular with the always great ms paint + mouse combination: Stan gives a better explanation than i can in the figure drawing course videos and notes: https://www.proko.com/course-lesson/how-to-draw-structure-in-the-body-robo-bean/notes https://www.proko.com/course-lesson/robo-bean-assignment-examples-twist/discussions

Since the loomis method seems quite technical I went with the quick sketch route to get as many goes as possible with it in a relatively short period of study time. These were 2 minutes each. Didn’t result in the prettiest of drawings but I think this is a good way to get experience with the method. In addition to filling pages with these I should probably try to get some skull studies and general box/perspective practise in also.

First full face study I’m not too embarrassed to post. A lot of work still ahead but I’m happy with the progress I’ve made in the last month. Feedback of course appreciated!

Here are my lip exercises! In terms of difficulty this was definitely giving noses a run for its money which surprised me since for some reason I thought it would be simpler. Feedback of course appreciated!

Some more mannequins and 2 min quick sketches! Summer "break" has been really busy with work and gym and stuff so I haven't gotten to draw as much as I would've wanted. A lot of you guys are managing to add some nice detail particularly in the torso area while mine are still more like robo beans with some cylinders for legs and hands. Maybe I should work on that. I don't think I captured the foreshortening on the big guy correctly. I'll try to find the reference for it later.

The 2 minute gesture drawing is in my opinion one of if not the hardest exercise in this course. It's kind of humiliating how much I struggle with this and then see how seemingly effortlessly Stan is making these beautiful figure drawings in the same amount of time 😅 I think I'm slowly starting to get the hang of it though. I'm trying to make these with as few lines as possible to improve my line quality and make each line have more meaning. As Tom Platz has said, "The hardest things are usually the best. If it's easy, leave it to someone else"

First go at these, fun but humbling exercise! Going to be trying to do a page a day of these in addition to the figure drawing course exercises.

Here is my third set for this assignment! Previously i had drawn a lot of side/back profiles so i focused on the front on this one. I think proportions are now my biggest issue since especially the first couple ones seem to suffer from long torso and/or leg syndrome.

Here is my second set of characters for this assignment! These are some of my first digital drawings as well since i just got my drawing tablet. Occasionally finding the angle of the pelvis box is challenging. Probably could use a re-watch of the landmark and robobean videos.

This has definitely been the most challenging but also the most fun part of the course so far! I feel like I am struggling with turning some of the body parts such as shoulders into simpler forms. Also the back is especially challenging as it can feel like it is somehow giving too much and too little information at the same time.. Here are some of the exercises I've done in the last couple of days. All critique/feedback and or tips would be appreciated!

Today's boxes. Been doing about a page of these a day for a couple days now, gonna keep at it until I feel more comfortable with proportions and perspective and then move on to mannequinization 👍
