Posting in the Community
To sustain a thriving art community, there will need to be a lot of give and take. Give a critique if you feel your view will help the student in a positive way. If you don't feel qualified yet, give some words of encouragement.
WARNING! You will not be able to post into the community unless you have a Proko account. It is free to join and free to post for critiques.
You can post as much as you like to keep yourself accountable to the assignments.
The two main ways your posts can engage with the Proko Community is through:
- Requesting a critique on your work.
- Helping other students by giving a critique.
Let's go over the four ways to post in Proko:
From Your Classroom
This is the quickest way to post without having to search for the last lesson you finished.
In the navigation, click on the Proko logo or My Classroom. This will take you to your Dashboard. At the top of your Dashboard is a text box that states Write a post or ask for help.

After you type up your post, you have several options:
- Attach an image
- A Checkbox to Post as "Help Request". This will let the Proko community know that you are specifically looking for a critique on your work.
- The ability to Post to: with these pull down options.
- Directly to your profile - This is the default location. Only you and your followers will see this post.
- Search where to post - type the keywords or title of the category, course, or lesson you want to post to.
- Your most recent finished lesson will appear in this pull down list.
From Your Profile
In the navigation, click on your Avatar icon and click on your Name.
Posting from your profile is the same as posting from Your Classroom.
In the Community Categories
Posting in the Community gives you a chance to showcase your work or get much needed feedback on your art not directly related to a lesson. You can post by:
- Click on the New Topic button. A pop-up window will appear.
- Select the Topic Category that best fits your post.
- Give your post a Topic Title.
- Fill in the Topic Text with your explanation or your questions for the Community.
- Click the Attach Image icon for any work you want included.
In Lesson Discussions
You can post directly on a lesson's page. Yep, it's built right in.
For lessons with assignments, you will see:
- An Assignments tab - Certain lessons have an assignment given by the instructor. Type your question regarding your work. Upload your artwork using the attach image icon. Click on Request Critique and wait for a response from the Proko community.
- A Comments tab - All lessons will have a comments tab. You can start a discussion related to the lesson or post any work related to the lesson.
