What do you look for when choosing a subject to paint?

How do you decide where you want to blend colors and where you want to keep the brush stroke more pronounced? I love the rougher/ expressive look for paintings but never know when to stop refining.

Do either of you have tips on how to take care of your hands/wrists and the rest of your body so that you don't get repetitive strain injuries?

I had a hard time with these assignments, so I plan to redraw these at some point. I tried to nail the proportions the best I could, but I think the spine is too long in most of them. I also want to get better at drawing lines more confidently; I was erasing and redoing lines a lot.

This exercise will be more useful if you push yourself to complete all the forms with the correct angles and neater lines. Right now some of your forms are a bit ambiguous, so it'll be hard to apply this into future drawings. I think you should try this again but with more boxes/ cylinders because right now it looks closer to an actual skeleton than a simplified version. It might help to practice drawing some boxes/ cylinders/ spheres by themselves from a few different angles - keeping in mind which lines will be parallel, which lines will converge, how it'll look when foreshortened, etc. I also need to practice this because these forms that I thought were "simple" have more nuance than I thought! Good luck!
