This was really fun! Before I only used two distinct line weights: one for contour and one for everything else.

I try to think about line weight sometimes but I never really know how to apply it. This gave me a better idea how to do it. I made up some shapes of my own to practice on and then did the assignment shapes, first with pencil and the I tried with a fineliner as well.

I drew along with the video and did the ones from the assignment page. I’ve been working on form interceptions for a different class, so thought I’d try applying line weights and some of the design elements to those.
Patrick Bosworth
I love the combination of these exercises! Nice form intersections, keep up the good work!!

Here is my line drawing and it’s funny how with only three weights of line it Isn’t always obvious where to use them.

Joined the course late. Line weight is fun to me too. I primarily learnt from manga and some technical drawings. Scott Robertson's books were named as the bible for drawing, but it seems too advanced for me, and I struggled in many concepts... The assignments were done while drawing the videos. The organic one looks a bit off, but I don't know why. Primarily in the transition part, at the front of the chair.

decided to experiment with brush pen in freehand again - oh boy did it bite back, had to switch on the way)
Matthew Rawles
Mechanical pencil, I felt going over the silhouette lines again made a big difference

you did well

Feeling a bit guilty because everyone else drew both the chair and the ink jet printer/ice cooler, I went ahead and drew the chair too.
Dave Sakamoto
I chose to draw the image to the left of the chair. It reminds me of an ink jet printer or a weird looking ice cooler :0

Enjoying this lesson. Finally a clear explanation on what line work is and how to properly apply it. Fun~~

The midline on that chair is a great exercise. Enjoying the class so far!

My attempt at hand drawing the reference objects. I ran out of space for the chair, so the proportions are not right.

Looks good. I'd sit in that chair.

Nicely done. Super clean.

I didn't get the perspective right and my lines aren't as clean as I would like them to be. I feel like I used too many lines and the form could be indicated just as accurately or better with less lines. This was deceptively difficult for a mere chair and I spent more time attempting this than I would like to admit. It was a fun challenge though and look forward to attempting the other assignments in the course.

Gave the building a go. I started with pencil and used fineliners for the line weight. 0.8, 0.4 and 0.1. I don't feel like there is enough of a difference between 0.4 and 0.8 so I'll try 0.3 next time.

Hello, Im sending my attempt. The biggest challenge for me is the parting line. For the organic form, I decided to use three types of lines instead of two 😊 Now Id like to try applying this to my drawings 😊
