Hey sonuu, I really like your gesture drawings, they get the story of the pose across very well. To get these even better I have some suggestions. First of all, good on you for knowing that gesture drawing is going to be a long journey. If you going to be a professional artist, you will continue to do them your whole career. The one thing that I think your drawings are missing is one long gesture line flowing through out the whole pose from top to bottom. This describes the main thrust of the pose and helps to keep the pose cohesive. It's also good to find the gesture in the limbs too. I did a quick sketch of one of your poses, and I hope it helps you get what I'm saying :)

yes ! I struggle with it a lot. incidentally, I left out 30s poses in that day's session, but that has to be the best way to improve at raw, most basic gesture. That's definitely my focus on my Figure Drawing drills tho. I've always wondered about one thing, though. how do you extract the gesture out of stiff or very foreshortened poses? (I've attached some examples, dunno if they're good ones but I hope you get what I mean.) I wonder, is this the wrong way to look at it? Is there always life, force, or movement to be seen and drawn in every pose? would love some advice on this, I hope I don't take too much of your time.

Hi ! For the last two weeks, I've been practicing my gestures after going through the Gesture chapter of the Figure Drawing Course. I'd appreciate it if anyone could throw their two-cents in on what I should focus on/what I'm lacking. (every gesture has either "1" or "2" written beside it, for ease of identification between 1 min. and 2 min. poses) Aside from Proko, I watched and drew along with NMA's free instructor sessions on YT (mainly Steve Houston's, that guy is amazing) and have gone through the first chapters of Michael Hampton's figure drawing book. I've already started my Bean exercises along with daily Figure Drawing! Though I feel like I still struggle sometimes with gesture. It may take months or even years though. I need to be patient about it. Thank you in advance ! (and sorry if there are any spelling mistakes, I'm Venezuelan.)
