Good work, @Mia D ! You’ve done a lot in the past two weeks. Your graphite work has a really nice feel to it, and I think Marshall’s Perspective course is going to help you bring even more drama to your work (like you have in the building at the top). How many pencils do you have to go through? I like the idea of incentives, but you have a tool that is working well for you. Couldn’t you have both, so you still have a backup that is great even if you don’t love the mechanical pencil? (I have nothing for show and tell this week - just daily hours and hours of shading practice - work for my lessons - and puddles of tears 😭.) Really looking forward to seeing what you do next!

Thank you Teresa! This is really encouraging. I'm gonna try to get into the habit of posting what i've done each week. You raise a good point. I try not to overbuy anything, so I always try to use up everything I have and get a bit nervous buying new things. I have twelve pencils to get through so it will be a while :D although i'm nearly at the end of my beloved 2B today. I reckon i'll buy it and if I don't get along with it, I'll give it as a gift to my friend and stick to pencils. They certainly are cheaper! Hours and hours of shading practice sounds a bit arduous, remember to schedule some fun drawings for yourself too! I got a bit overwhelmed with exercises last week so this week I'm drawing cats, haha.

Just a little shot of some things I’ve been practicing. All drawn in pencil (ive told myself if I use up all my graphite pencils, as a reward I’m allowed to buy the mechanical pencil Stan recommends 😃 but only then!) Any thoughts? What have you drawn this week?

@miadahlqvist I'm also having trouble replicating that bug. Can you try a different browser and see if you get the same result? - thanks for the feedback, we're currently looking into solutions for unmarking lessons. - you're not the first to say it's a scary button. I don't see us getting rid of it, but would it help if the language was different? All that button is supposed to do is to help you keep track of the courses you're actively working on.

@John B I'll give it a whirl with a different browser over the weekend. As for the button... yes, I think the language is what gets you, also its placement is close to the expand video hotspot. 'Remove from classroom' sounds like I am removing a paid course from my roster of courses (and makes me think: oh goodness. how will I get this back? if I press this have I lost my paid course?) It depends on the purpose of this button, I think. Is the intention to – say, if you've polished off figure fundamentals and portrait fundamentals – remove those from your 'current roster', so to speak? Where does this change display visually for the user after clicking, where is the value in clicking on it at this level? I'm not sure it would really display on this page, so I wonder whether the button is useful at all at this level, the video level. I think UX wise, you'd be better served putting this button in a 'Manage Courses' section, and using language like 'Current Courses' and 'Remove From Current Courses'.

Quite a bit of good information here! I had to read it a few times to absorb it all. Copywriting is the UX area I am weakest in, so I'm glad there's a beta tester that can pick up the slack :) @miadahlqvist What kind of activities do you suggest for coming up with labels that resonate best with the Proko user base? Card sorting?

That's a tricky one because you can user test the sh*t out of a site and lose all the 'feeling' from the labelling. There's value in copywriting that fits the site as well as stuff that is UX friendly... it's a balance. When I work with a client, I try to find out what tone of voice they're aiming for and go from there. But in general, making sure the most relevant forum topics are always on top (we've got Beta Testing right now, but I think the lesson discussions & critique perhaps should probably be right after that) and that those topics have the shortest / most 'direct-sounding' names are always good rules of thumb. Important side note as there might be a reason as to why it has decreased prominence – each lesson has a critique section in it too. So perhaps by design they want to funnel folks into that way of requesting feedback, rather than on the forum? Not sure.

@John B I just went to see if I could replicate the OPs bug with the wrong video loading and it appears to be working correctly on my end. I clicked on all the videos from the bean, structure, and landmark sections. I'm using Google Chrome if it matters. @miadahlqvist Regarding the topic of marking/unmarking lessons I invite you to join our discussion here: https://prokolab.com/community/topics/two-problems

Yeah I use Brave Browser – perhaps it's that. For what it's worth, I'm now watching the structure video, but I had to navigate to it in a different way.

Hi there, I was just about to watch my 3D structure video, but the video for gesture came up instead. I've inserted a screenshot for your reference. Two suggestions: - The ability to unmark a lesson as complete would be nice (I can see myself going through the course once and marking lessons as complete, then wanting to unmark them all and tick them off again as I revised them for a second time. Idk, I like lists, so having that flexibility would be nice. It would also suck if you marked one complete by mistake. Ticking something off when you've finished is so satisfying...) - That 'remove course' button looks ominous and scary lol, and it frightens me with how close it is to everything else. Could just see myself clicking it rather than the expand window. I daren't try it to see if you do get an 'are you sure' prompt – but if this is where that button must live, an extra window will help prevent misclicks.

Hi there! :) This isn't a bug, but just a suggestion. There may be a reason I don't know of that you have it this way, so feel free to disregard if so! From my experience writing copy for websites, people usually assume that the most relevant piece of information will be surfaced to the top for their convenience. They also tend to assume the most snappily named item is most relevant to them and the site in question. So for example, you have the two sections 'Learn' and 'Lesson Discussion'. I assumed that 'Learn' was everything to do with the Proko lessons, seeing as I was on the Proko site. It was only until I scrolled to the bottom and saw the 'Lesson Discussion' topic that I realised it wasn't. Only then did I read the subtitles, hehe. This is pretty common user behavior, unfortunately. We don't read :D I would suggest that 'Learn' should be everything to do with Proko lessons, seeing as this is their home. Perhaps some other name for the off-site learning and critiques might be more appropriate? I could even see an argument that you could split the Proko lesson discussion into two topics – a streamlined place for critique, and then a place to ask questions – depending on how people end up using the site. Hope this is helpful. I will keep looking for actual bugs! The site is absolutely beautiful, by the way!
