I am struggling with seeing lately, but I got a few done. Between 10 to 15 minutes.
I just did a few today, I put a lot of pressure on myself with these for some reason. 3-10 minutes each.
3mo
I did 10 at 1 minute, and 10 at 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
3mo
I did 20 minutes each. This was a really fun challenge!

I think I did okay, but I definitely need to study anatomy more. A lot more. This was very much a challenge, most are 30+ minutes.

I did 5 minute sketches, and I’m posting all the ones I did instead of only the ones I like.

Mostly 25 minutes each, one got paused without me realizing it so it could have been longer.

I just did a couple, I started over multiple times. Roughly 10 minutes each.

I enjoyed this, I don’t draw mermaids super often! Any feedback would be welcome!
My goals for 2024 are to get back in the habits of both drawing practice, and just drawing for fun. I want to play around more and have fun with it again.

Proko's Drawing Basics course has a lesson about lines, watch it. Alternatively, you can practice drawing Straight lines and circles one page per day.
When drawing lines, move your elbow, not wrist.
Getting in flow will take some time, It's okay to redraw when you are a beginner.

I am not a beginner, and I am not offended just clarifying. I’ve been drawing since 97/98 or so. My line quality is obviously better than it was back then, but some of the habits I started back then are what I am struggling to break.
I have watched some of the basics course, I can’t afford the whole course at the moment but I’ve watched most of the free ones. I will focus on additional line drawing practice though and I love Proko’s vids and have no problem watching them repeatedly. I appreciate the advice, thank you!

Breaking bad habits5mo
I draw sloppy lines, and it’s super ingrained in me to redraw a line multiple times. Has anyone had much success with breaking such habits? I want to keep a good flow while drawing nice lines, but I struggle to just do a nice smooth line and move on. I’ve included some 60 second gesture drawings from today.
Any feedback and advice would be appreciated.

Here is my current one, I feel pretty happy with it overall.

I very much appreciate the advice you all have offered! I am working up a new sketch, trying to keep everything in mind!

Nice study! I'd take a look at the pec muscle and breast placement. It looks like the top of the breasts are sitting to high and there is not enough space for the pec between the clavicles and top of the breast forms.
3yr
Thank you for the feedback! I will take a look at the placement and adjust it! I’m about to work on it a bit more!

It looks good. It looks like you overestimated the height of the stomach compared to the height from the bottom of the breasts to the chin. One thing that could help you is to focus on the negative shapes around the figure (like between the legs or the arm and the leg) and try to copy the shapes rather than thinking of it as a body. I think that we think of an arm as being long or a leg as being straight, and in foreshortened poses the proportions often aren't intuitive, so it can be better to view them first as shapes. I would also pay attention to angles and proportions of things in comparison to each other.

Thank you, I really appreciate the feedback! I do have a difficult time thinking in terms of shapes and forms, but I am definitely trying to make it a habit.

Foreshortening3yr
Hello, I was hoping to get critique on some foreshortening practice I started this morning. I struggle with it, and have for a while. I have a difficult time wrapping my head around perspective, so any advice would be great.
