A question about complimentary colors. For additive colors (like light) the complement of Red is Cyan, but for subtractive colors (like pigments) the complement of Red is Green. The provided color wheel agrees with the subtractive view but your demos involve additive colors. Is one preferred over the other?

My first mannequin, please give some feed back. I really want to get better at this.

Watch out for your proportions. The leg on the left (his right leg) should be closer to the center of the pelvis. Note how his knee is almost below his right shoulder in the photo but your drawing has it far to the left.

Hey Joseph, You will notice from my draw over that your nose is not symmetrical. Drawing a center line will help you keep things the same on both sides. I hope this is helpful :)

Thanks for the advice. I think I got sucked into the shapes of the shadows and lost track of the underlying forms.

After going through Stan's step-by-step nose, I decided to draw my own. I didn't get too far into the eyes, I just wasn't sure when to stop. Any comments or room for improvement? Charcoal on 18" x 24" newsprint. The somewhat pained expression is because I was looking towards the sun.

Hey Joseph, the bottom one looks mostly correct. I think you would just need to lower the top plane so its not in the neck. More of a straight line from the shoulder to bring it across the back.

Thanks. I think learning the muscle attachments will help once I get to those lessons.

Struggling with the scapula. The ones on the right are from reference photo 4. I think my second attempt (below) is closer to the actual orientation. Any thoughts?

For the one holding the cup, the legs read much better and have some depth. The torso and arms seem a bit flat.

I find drawing from the ebooks first helps me know what I’m trying to draw when I tackle the exercises. Went for pen and ink with this scapula. The shoulder is one weird joint.
