I decided to take advantage of the simplified body sculpt and work on it, this is the progress so far. Thanks to what I learned in the simplified body lessons, I can feel how it's been easier to achieve the posture and establish a good base for the proportions. This has sped up the process, although it's also very different from how I worked before.

measurements: cranial unit (4 cm) I made the head and ribcage in the armature, so it was quite difficult to keep the proportions and symmetry so I tried to make the pelvis apart and then place it in the armature making it easier.

I started at a very low relief to mark the highest areas of the fabric and then I was forced to increase the amount of material and height to better understand how the folds worked. By increasing the height I lost the proportion or size of the folds making it look very different from the reference.

I found it difficult to work with the left leg and arm because of the foreshortening.

This is a great opportunity to challenge myself and see how far I have progressed through the figure sculpting fundamentals course. Thank you for the opportunity

Took me a while to get back to this sculpture, but finally finished it, there are still some details I want to work on.

I used a very thin wire for the size of the sculpture and also did not use an additional support which gives me problems as the mass of the sculpture increases..

Please submit gesture studies! I'm still looking for examples for the critique videos. There will be a little break in video lessons for the sculpture course as Proko is getting ready for the busy holidays but videos should start up again in January. This should give students a chance to catch up and submit assignments for critique videos. I look forward to seeing your work!

I chose a drawing from George Bridgemans Complete Guide To Drawing From Life, and made the sculpture in one sitting. It took me 1 hour and 30 minutes.

I enjoyed making the aluminum wire armature (black wire) with the cranial units and tried some silver wire I found at home, but it was too stiff and making smaller armatures with that wire was tricky I'm going to buy more aluminum wire of different thicknesses.

It is the 3rd or fourth sculpture that I make, it was interesting to use tools that I found at home, as an architect I have quite a few tools that I used during my career, but mainly I use my hands, although with the chavant clay being hard I needed to heat it constantly to have better handling of the material. Nice Challenge to show that it is not necessary to have expensive tools to start sculpting, I hope to improve as the course progresses. Tools: 1. My hands. 2. Aluminum foil. 3. Safety pin. 4. Chavant clay I already had. 5. Back of a brush for smoothing. 6. Toothpick. 7. Old bent X-acto blade for carving.
