Thank you for the video Stan. Can we use a sanding sponge block for sharpening the pencils, instead of sandpaper?

I use a sponge. It's nice for creating smooth curves on the profile, but it won't knock down the corner as fast.

The Song of a Lovebird! Super fun challenge! After watching Peter's livestream, I realized I was doing a lot of the literal thinking that he talked about. Looking forward to trying this process again in the future!

Hello fellow artists! I'm a freelance VFX artist and digital sculptor looking to move into illustration and fine art. I've been studying for about two years, but I'm in a somewhat isolated area and I don't know a lot of artists. So I'm finding it hard to critique my own work. I would love some feedback regarding the fundamentals, and when to quit practicing and start working. My (current) influences are James Gurney, Paul Bonner, Mark Schultz, and NC Wyeth. My newest goal has been moving away from strict realism into more stylized, exaggerated forms. That and color. Color terrifies me for some reason. Thank you so much for taking a peak and any advice is greatly appreciated!

"Cat Lady" She took such a good care of her cats when they were alive. They never really left her side, not even after they passed away. Wanted to try to hop off my comfort zone and approach this one with a bit more comic style angle. I really enjoyed doing those sketchy/messy lines. Was fun, hope you like it. Thanks!

Patience, Man. (The comma is obligatory) My first traditional (clean) drawing in a long while. But the challenge seemed appropriate to try out my hand at not using ctrl-z. Can’t seem to control slick liners so sticking to my trusty ballpoint. Looking forwards to the critiques :)

Introducing: Half Man. Is he a man? Is he a half? Yes. His past is shrouded in mystery; All his enemies know of him is the quick flash of pink cargo shorts and socks, followed by death.

Here is mine, " The Landscaper" The sound of his leaf blower might be annoying, but it's the sound of a hero !

Dodge-man! The Untouchable Defender! He's quick! He's nimble! His enemies defeat themselves! I really wanted to go for the vintage comic look, e.i. The Amazing Spider-man. I started by planning out my page and throwing down some quick gestures. Once I landed on an arrangement, I blocked out my anatomy and cleaned up each figure to begin the line work. To keep everything to scale and looking classic, I decided to do the lines with real ink. I scanned those back in and did some quick color work. I was hoping to do a shading pass before I finished, but here we are. Stay agile, citizens!
