Hi! Do you think you could post a list of materials in advance? Because of the pandemic, it's kind of hard to source stuff in general, especially in adversely affected countries like mine, so knowing in advance what I'd need and when would be really helpful, as I'd rather find out ahead of time if it's going to take me 2 months to obtain I need because of travel restrictions.

The most well-known advice about values is that we should keep the light value range and the dark value range clearly separated. How does the local value of an object fit into this? eg: should a black cloth in the light also be lighter than a white cloth in shadow? Or should we design separate light/shadow value ranges for each type of cloth?

This is for heads only, but it's pretty useful for that. Results get iffier as the angles get more and more extreme, though. https://x6ud.github.io/#/

As others have mentioned, more focus on proper values would really help identify the forms you're making. Maybe thumbnail it out with just 2 or 3 values and see if it reads? Apart from that, I feel like the muscle fibers are being used to fill in the figure, but aren't being used to describe the form. The fibers are a great opportunity to show the roundness or flatness of the muscles, but I get the sense that you may have just outlined the muscle locations then squeezed the fibers into the 2d shape.

Hiya everyone, I'm Miguel. Excited to see this site launch; I've been following Proko since he put out the first figure drawing course, and this is an awesome next step. Hoping to see a strong community develop here. Due to... recent world events, I've gone much further in on trying to level up than I have in the past, and now I'm trying to work towards a style that falls somewhere between very graphic and painterly. While I'm done tinkering with these pieces, I'd greatly welcome hearing about common issues in my paintings, or advice about the direction I'm going in.

Something that isn't clear to me is what posting patterns I should follow. Just an example: if I make a thread under Paintings just to introduce myself and show some of my stuff, is that also where I should post WIPs for critique, or should I make a new thread for that? Or should I be posting in a critiquer's hello thread to do this? More generally, I'd feel less reluctant to post if I knew exactly where the post I intended to make belongs, because I don't want to clog up forums with too many threads in the long term, nor do I want to inadvertently hijack threads.
