Hello everyone! I've been working diligently on my gestures and I think that I've made some progress. I still struggle with crouched poses, but I feel like my line quality has improved and certain poses are becoming more natural. I've also been able to push some of the gestures a bit more which I think helps with their overall appearance. I look forward to any and all feed back on these. Thank you

It's been a while since I've posted anything looking for critiques, but I've been hard at work practicing and I'm looking for a little feed back on my gestures from this week. I've really been working on finding the longest possible lines for my gestures, but I'm still struggling a bit to discern gesture from contour. Any feedback on these would be really appreciated!

I'm back again with a couple of new gesture drawings. I've been working on some of the feedback I received last time and wanted to show everyone two gestures that I thought were much better. I did alter how I hold the pencil so that I can use more of my should. It's a bit more difficult and the line control isn't where it needs to be, but I'm confident that will change with practice. I would be forever grateful if anyone where to look at these and provide some feedback! Thank you!

Hey Dan, The first thing I notice is that your drawing these with you wrist. The best way to draw gesture is with your shoulder, holding your pencil underhand. This makes sure you cant noodle these and you will use big sweeping lines. I took the gestures on your second page and did some gesture drawing based on what I think the poses were. I hope they will help you to get what I'm talking about. Keep going, your not that far off :)

This is super helpful! I have been drawing with my wrist, but a few others pointed out that I should be using my shoulder more. I took your advice and started drawing with my shoulder and I think some of the lines have turned out better. I'm still playing with what pencil position is most comfortable, but drawing from the should has definitely made the lines smoother. The sketch over you did was also really, really helpful. Being able to see where I've made mistakes has been quite helpful with my practice today. I'll be back in a few days with some new sketches and hopefully the line quality is much better. Thanks again for your help!

Hi Dan! Interesting practices. I'm not quite up to task with my gestures and stuff, so I may not spot that well. Those are looking good to me. The only thing I find that you could benefit from is probably to use even longer curves and fewer curves to represent them, so they get less detailed, and more "flowing".

Thank you so much for your feedback. I took what you said to heart during my practice today and I think the gestures I did turned out a bit better.

Hello everyone! I'm continuing to work on my gesture drawing and feel like they are slowly getting better. Most of these are 2 minutes, but some are untimed. Someone in the community gave me the tip to focus on longer more flowing lines. I have a terrible habit of using very sketchy lines and constantly restating the same line to find one that I like with the end result coming out quite hairy or sketchy. I tried to focus on much longer lines, but continue to fall into the sketchiness habit. Any constructive feedback is very much welcomed!

Hello! I recently started taking some of the fundamentals courses and have been working my way through gesture drawing. I've been practicing a few days a week for about two weeks and each day I practice for about an hour to an hour and a half. I really struggle with gesture drawing and eliminating the unnecessary contour lines of a pose, so I plan to devote a substantial amount of time to gesture drawing (hopefully at least an hour a day) for another few weeks. I'm hoping to get a little feedback on my gesture drawings from today (6/19) after my limited practice. For reference, I used the poses in this video: https://painting.tube/13-meisha-friday-evening-figure-drawing-fefdraw-august-11-2017/ I really struggle with certain poses, specifically crouched over poses, and tried to draw some of those poses multiple times. I also really struggle with added depth to my gesture drawings and making them more dynamic. I'm hoping a little feedback on what I accomplished today will help point me in the right direction. I really, really appreciate you taking the time to look at my sketches and provide feed back!
