I’m a self-taught artist who is always trying to grow and improve.

Im guessing i need to be a lot more careful and technical for this assignment. I have a hard time with more technical drawings and I may have rushed this one a bit. Advice?

I have some basic anatomy knowledge and used reference books to do these. I didn’t include a huge amount of striations but I hope I’m seeing the insertions well. (Basic user, not premium.)

For authenticity to the challenge, I used a ballpoint pen brush in procreate on a square canvas, timed five minutes, and drew small at first like I would actually do on a napkin. I loved this challenge!

I probably didn't take this far enough yet, but I didn't want to overwork it with my cold hands. I used two Prismacolors, a No 2 pencil, and a blending stump. I took care to measure and be clean with my beginning sketches. And proportions. Any advice?

My biggest weakness so far has been structure but I think I'm doing really well on that now that I've been practicing.

I've been intensely going over all the structure material. My biggest obvious flaw is poor draftsmanship (I'm a scribbling sketch artist) but how are the poses and dynamism as a whole? Critique requested.

I tend to be a bit of an energetic scribbler so I went back and darkened the lines on the best ones. I know my line quality sucks haha, I just need to know if I am indeed on the right track like I think I am.

i started out drawing books at various angles using the Y method (which revolutionized my ability to “see” boxes) and then after warming up I moved on to the variety of animals. The prancing Kudu was the last one I did this session and it’s my best one I think. Barring my line quality and obvious perspective issues, how did I do overall?

Day 3/7 Gesture (meant to post yesterday) I don’t usually do quicksketch or gesture less than a minute or more than two. I can see dramatic improvement in my five to ten minute poses but often I still “run out of things to draw.” I usually spend remaining time clarifying shapes and cleaning up lines. Please critique these! Models from Line of action

Day 2/7: Gesture Please offer criticism! I don’t know what it is about having more time but the cleanliness and readability of my gesture seems to begin to falter. It’s frustrating. Especially on poses where my brain gets excited and I see so many perfect rhythms, it’s like I overthink and it just doesn’t come out. However I do see a lot of positive progression and any critiques are extremely appreciated. I’m not sure how to progress other than simplify, simplify, simplify. video used: #18 Durmel: Friday Evening Figure Drawing

Hello! This is my first time posting. I’ve worked in gesture a lot before but I’ve decided to crack down and work through this course spending 7 days on each concept, even the ones I’m familiar with. I used #25 Jin: Friday Evening Figure Drawing on YouTube for these poses. That’s my go-to for gesture practice. I struggle a lot with exaggeration and getting away from what’s “Correct” and going to what feel good. I understand the concepts of gesture but I feel my execution is still lacking. Any critiques you can offer is appreciated!
