I feel like I see a lot of caricaturists doing a lot of "classic" sorts of faces; well known celebrities, politicians, talk show hosts. Do you ever get tired of drawing people that everyone's already drawn?

What do you think of the caricature puppets on Spitting Image, if you've heard of it. I

Is it easier or more difficult to capture people with faces that diverge a lot from the "typical" Loomis-esque proportions? Also, I noticed you using a form of the reilly abstraction in a putin sketch. How does the method differ when applying it to more "cartoonish" roughs?

Hi @Andre Chris-Sargent I like the different images, especially the bright colors. The ornaments on the axe of the young joker is a highlight for me. And the silhouette of the young joker could be clearer. I think you could improve it, if you move his left hand a little bit so it is clearly visible against the background. I tried to do a quick shadow drawing to show my point.

Hey Andre, It's cool that your trying out different styles, I like the first one the best. I would suggest though that no matter what style you want to draw in that you always seek clarity. Try to make sure that you keep things clean and understandable, especially the more stylized we get. Also make sure your figure works and everything relates properly before you add all the costume elements. I did a couple of draw overs to show you what I mean. I hope this is helpful, keep drawing :)

Hello again Chris and Not So Chris. Is there still discrimination against illustrators in the fine art world? Does it matter?

Hello, Stan and Not So Stan. Do you think the culture of artistic/"finished" sketchbooks, a la Karl Kopinski, Kim Jung Gi, and the ennumerable accepted cal-arts sketchbook walkthroughs on youtube, are actually detrimental to the learning artist? Do they give the wrong idea about the point of a sketchbook? Or are they just a new form of artistic expression?

How come Caravaggio is a master artist, but Gustave Dore is an illustrator?

I was reading a book from the 1940s that said absolute technical excellence of draftsmanship is necessary for successful/profitable illustration and cartooning. Does that still hold true?

I think there is a strong sense of style and design language which I really like. With 1 and 3 the issues are lack of contrast. It reads like a more flat comic style with the lineart turned off. This is definitely something that can work like in Disney's sleeping beauty but it definitely will always read more flat, especially if you don't have a proper background. It does seem like you are stepping in the direction of treating it as more 3D so just make sure you're applying light more consistently

I like the drawings and I am not sure what you are aiming for, where you see the main points you want to improve on. Could you specify the areas you are not happy with, where you want advise? Do you have something specific you want to learn about digital drawing? What are the bad habits you mentioned? To me the drawings look like they were planned to be :)
