In this 1 hour 35 minute demo, I strictly follow the Loomis method, starting from the ball of the cranium. Then I construct the features using very basic shapes indicating the major planes of each feature. This allows me to find the correct proportions before committing to details. Then I work on the shadow mapping, 2-value drawing, and finally the detailed shading.
In this 1 hour 20 minute demo, use a slightly more advanced version of the Loomis method, in which I imagine the ball and focus more on the specific shapes of Nicolai’s head. I start the layin with the big shape of the head and break it up into front plane, side plane, and thirds of the front plane. Then I layin in the features, shadow mapping, 2-value drawing, and finally the detailed shading.
